How to Fix the Xbox e74

Whenever you see the Xbox 360 e74 error message appear on your screen, coupled with the flashing red lights or otherwise known as the red ring of death. What this means is your console is overheating internally.

The major reason this occurs is due to insufficient cooling, internally of the major components within the motherboard of the Xbox 360. Such as the graphics processor unit GPU. In this article I will be outlining a couple of important aspects you need to know. And things you can do before you try and rectify this problem permanently yourself and warn you against other dangerous methods being touted about on the Internet.

In order to fix the Xbox 360 e74 error message or to stop it from appearing again. I did some research, after a few weeks of research on the Internet. Trying to find a way to fix my Xbox 360 I came across a number of red light fixes, and yes I did see the towel method like a hundred times. I even witnessed an Xbox 360 go up in smoke, under a towel in a video I found which was quite hilarious.

1) If your console is still under warranty you may send it back to Microsoft repair centre. Which will take roughly about 2 months to get your console back, excluding shipment fees and possible repair costs of around $140. If you are not prepared to wait, then you can try and repair it yourself by doing the following actions.

2) You can attempt DIY by getting hold of a good quality Xbox repair guide, essentially all you will have to do is get hold of some household tools such as a screwdriver set, thermal paste and follow the simple detailed instructions within the fast Xbox fixing guide. This can be accomplished within 2 hours quickly and easily. All you have to do is remove the console casing, apply some thermal paste in the correct location around the specified heat sinks.
